Mardi Horowitz
San Francisco Bay Area artist, past president of the ICB Artists Association in Sausalito, California, author, Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry at UCSF, Weill Institute for Neurosciences and School of Medicine, Mardi Horowitz, has been drawing and painting since his childhood in his mothers dressmaking shop in Hollywood, CA. He continued taking art classes and studying Zen while at UCLA. While studying Zen, Mardi became a practitioner in the aspects of Sumi-e “Japanese brush painting”, studying with Sensei Shozo Sato, and continues to practice making fine art sumi-e at the Industrial Center Building (the ICB) in Sausalito, where he has held a studio and participated in the annual open studios, Marin Open Studios and Winter Open Studios at the ICB for the past quarter century.
